We are busy with shopping and distributing food items to the neighbors of UWaterloo. We have cooked "Chicken Biryani" and "Chicken stew with potato" together during the first two weeks of February. Chicken Biryani took plenty of time, but at the end it came out as one of our favorite dishes π².

Neighbors have been able to cook Spanish rice with ground beef, vermicelli chicken soup, potato cutlet, and lentils and rice with meatballs in the first week. The photos illustrate the food items distributed to one of the households and the dishes (Potato Cutlet) cooked by the neighbors during one of the online cookery sessions. We thank all the volunteers, neighbors and our community partners that made this event possible by their generous contributions and efforts.

All the kitchen tools, including digital kitchen scales and vegetable peelers, have been delivered to all the neighbors participating in the University of Waterloo Neighborhood Cooking Project. The purpose of this giveaway was to ease the process of cooking and thanking the neighbors who are participating the sessions and helping the project actively.

University of Waterloo Neighborhood Cooking Project started on Jan 1, 2021 and is going to end within 3 months. The project is an attempt to bridge the social gap that has been created by the ongoing pandemic between the neighbors of University of Waterloo. It does so by teaching the dishes from different cultures step by step to the neighbors while giving the neighbors the opportunity to share valuable information about each otherβs culture. At this time when we have to try our best to stay at home longer, it is a golden opportunity to get to know new cultures and new people from the neighborhood. The project would be conducted using internet, social media platforms and telecommunication applications from everyoneβs home. The project has been planned to teach 12 dishes in 12 online sessions to at least 10 neighbors. Most of the neighbors take the lead of supplying ingredients, distributing them, and coordinating tasks and meetings.
